Sedation Dentistry

Can Make Appointments Fly By

Listen, we completely understand that going to the dentist can be a stressful, even fear-inducing experience for some people, but at Premier Care Dental, we’re trying to change that one patient at a time. Between our warm and welcoming team and willingness to answer questions, we’re often able to completely allay dental fears. But, if you need a little more help to feel comfortable in the chair, we’re happy to provide sedation dentistry. Whether you have a lot of anxiety or just a little, these techniques can help you finally sit back and relax while we take care of your teeth. To learn how we could use sedation at your next appointment, contact us today.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Patient taking sedative pill

If you’ve avoided going to the dentist for years because of dental phobia, require extensive dental work, or both, then oral conscious sedation might be exactly what you need. With this method, one of our doctors will prescribe you a pill to take about an hour before your scheduled appointment so that by the time you sit in the dental chair, you’ll feel a deep sense of physical and mental relaxation. You’ll remain awake for your entire visit, able to respond to commands, but time will fly by very quickly, and you’ll likely have little memory afterward.

Oral conscious sedation is also useful for patients who want to have multiple procedures completed in one, well-planned appointment to save time, or those who have difficulty sitting in the chair for extended periods. In any case, if you do indeed elect to use it, we will require that a friend or family member drive you to and from the office the day of your procedure as well as keep an eye on you for a few hours afterward.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Would you like something to just “take the edge off” of your dental nerves? We can help you do just that with nitrous oxide sedation. All a patient has to do is breathe in the colorless, odorless gas through a small nasal mask to start feeling light, happy, and even euphoric in the dental chair. The mask will stay on for the entire appointment, and when it is removed, the gas’ effects wear off almost instantly, allowing a person to quickly go back to their normal day.
